In March 2024, X-rays revealed a heartbreaking truth: three bullets were lodged in Kindu’s body, painful remnants of her traumatic past. J.A.C.K.’s veterinarian, Dr. Calvin, was able to extract one, but the exact location and the feasibility of removing the other two remained uncertain.
Recently, thanks to the support of a dedicated individual outside the project, we were able to perform an MRI—a delicate procedure requiring anesthesia to ensure Kindu’s safety.
The results confirmed the presence of one bullet moving within her body and another slightly embedded in her spine. Our founder, Mrs. Roxane, is currently awaiting opinions from various specialists to determine whether surgery is possible or if these fragments will need to be monitored long-term. These decisions will be critical to shaping Kindu’s future, particularly with the goal of a potential reintroduction into the wild.
Despite everything, Kindu remains strong!
A recent blood test confirmed that she is in good overall health. This little fighter reminds us every day of the importance of our mission.
