When the monkeys arrived from Zimbabwe last week, all of them were doing well except one female Cercopithecus lhoesti. She was limping; her left leg was obviously very sore…
J.A.C.K. Vet, Dr MUTUMBA, managed to isolate the young primate and noticed she had a swollen leg. Despite the infection had come out, she absolutely needed appropriate treatment because she had fever too. The vet cleaned the wound thouroughly and injected the needed drugs. The little female was brought for observation and for day and night care at our Founders’ house…
The female lhoesti recovered very fast. She took all her oral treatments. It was then decided that, after 5 days of isolation, she could go back with her friends.
So, last Monday, the little monkey was presented to her group. Because they had all been through huge changes on the last few days since their arrival, Dr MUTUMBA did a short presentation still isolated from the others to see how they would react.
Then, since all went well, the gates were opened and the female could meet her friends again… We were all happy she was okay and back with the other ones!
