During the largest repatriation of Congolese primates in Africa, our team had the privilege of rescuing VIRI, a little Allen’s swamp monkey whose days were numbered. Suffering from a severe skin disease that was destroying her both externally and internally, her chances of survival were slim. However, thanks to the unwavering love of Mama Mireille and the dedicated care from the team, VIRI slowly but surely began to heal.
This beautiful story is a triumph over the fate that traffickers had planned for VIRI: a pet with an uncertain future. Today, VIRI lives within a group of her own species, where she thrives and finds her place every day.
Her story is a symbol of resilience and victory over adversity, and a powerful reminder of the importance of fighting against wildlife trafficking. VIRI is no longer just surviving; she is truly living.
