J.A.C.K. would like to thank the OLSEN ANIMAL TRUST for its involvement in the transfer and the accommodation of the monkeys recently recued from LODJA.
Last June, OAT indeed supported the transfer of the 10 first primates during their long trip (more than 520 km) of 3 days on motorbikes from Lodja to Mbuji-Mayi. Four motorbikes had been rented to ensure proper transport under the coordination of Mr. Héritier MPO from APPACOL-PRN. These transport funds include fuel for the motorbikes, food for the monkeys and rescue team. A surrogate mother accompanied the team to take care of primates. In Mbuji-Mayi, all the airport fees to load the crates on board of the cargo plane of our sponsor were supported by OAT too.
But this is not all.
At J.A.C.K., the amazing help of the OLSEN ANIMAL TRUST also contributed to the construction of night enclosures. Our Rehabilitation Center urgently needed new facilities to accommodate these survivors of the bushmeat trade. If we didn’t build these structures, we would not have been able to give these orphans a second chance in life. The generosity of the Olsen Family finalized this building project and the brand new building has been recently inaugurated with the arrival the the LODJA2 monkeys (12 individuals).
The concrete building is made of 4 night rooms. There is water and electricity
Dear Olsen Family , on behalf of all our residents rescued from Lodja, we say THANK YOU!
